Choosing NDT equipment for a small inspection team

Hi everyone. I'm currently working in a small inspection team where we mostly deal with routine checks on welds and metal structures. Recently we started discussing whether it's time to upgrade our ndt equipment, because some of what we use feels outdated and not always reliable. At the same time, we don't have a huge budget and don't want to buy things we won't actually use. I'm curious how others approach this decision. Do you start from standards and requirements, or from practical experience in the field? Any advice or shared stories would be helpful.
